SARAH IMAYNU: THE LAUGHING PRINCESS

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Sarah, the matriarch of the Jewish people is full of ambiguities.  Embracing both the particular and universal, the Talmud describes her as a Jewish princess and a worldly queen; the mother of all born Jews and the matriarch of all converts.  Her prophetic powers were deemed greater than those of her husband. She orchestrates Abraham’s second marriage and then banishes both the mother and the child. According to the midrash, even her gender has been ambiguous.  We will explore the nuanced legacy of Sarah, our laughing prophet nursing mother.
