Kay Harris will be speaking about the BRCA gene mutation, which can cause cancers affecting those with Jewish Ashkenazi ancestry far more than the average population. She will be speaking about the gene mutation, explaining its effects, giving information about how the gene can be detected, and what help is available to minimise its effects.

A minute or two after checking his DNA results, Mike  Regan received an email from a stranger in the USA. In it she said she had just received information from Ancestry showing a very close match and that “Your last name is my adopted mother’s last name.” Over the next few weeks connections were checked and evidence gathered before the relationship could be confirmed and the family informed. The news was welcomed – well, almost.
